Originating from the Amazon rainforest, Kambo holds a centuries-old tradition of healing among the Indigenous tribes of Peru and Brazil. This potent medicine is a secretion from the giant monkey frog (Phyllomedusa bicolor), and is known for its multifaceted benefits on the body, mind, and spirit.
Kambo is a detoxifier, helping to purge toxins and impurities on a physical and energetic level. It's composed of bio-active peptides, which possess antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and immune-boosting properties. These peptides have a strengthening effect on the body, naturally increasing energy and stamina. They've also been shown to treat numerous ailments including depression, anxiety, PTSD, fatigue, addiction, cancer, infertility, candida, and neurodegenerative disorders.
Beyond physical detoxification, Kambo brings deep spiritual and emotional healing. When coupled with a strong intention, the medicine works to release trauma and emotions stored in the body.
On an energetic level, Kambo aligns the chakras and opens the heart. Increasing energy flow to the heart increases feelings of love, joy and gratitude. Indigenous tribes believe Kambo clears "panema," or negative energy from the aura, fostering a sense of renewal and prosperity.

Preparation
Preparing to sit with Kambo begins one week prior to the ceremony. During this time, it is important to be mindful of what you consume physically and energetically. It's best to eat a clean diet free of sugar, red meat, dairy and processed foods, and avoid energy draining activities (social media & sexual activity). Increasing time in nature and meditation will help your body prepare as well. It is mandatory to stop using any drugs, alcohol and caffeine at least 3 days prior to the ceremony. Taking the preparation seriously for Kambo will help you have an easier experience and receive greater benefits from the ceremony.
Pre-Ceremony
Before starting the ceremony, we will go over your medical history and ceremony steps. During this time you will drink 1.75 liters of water and can ask any questions you may have.
Ceremony
The ceremony begins with intention setting, as this is the most important part of any healing practice. Your intention serves as an anchor during the experience and helps give medicine directions for how to best heal you. I'll use Mapacho (sacred tobacco) to smudge the space and bring in grounding and protection. Once deciding on the amount of medicine you will receive, I will make superficial burns on your skin. The Kambo will be applied to the burns and enter your lymphatic system, quickly beginning the purging process. Purging most often happens through vomiting, however shaking, crying, sweating or going to the bathroom can also be part of the purge. This process can be intense but only lasts for 20-30 minutes. Once the ceremony is over, Sangre De Grado (tree sap) will be applied to the burns as a liquid band-aid. At this point, you can lay down, rest and enjoy the Kambo "after-glow"!
Post-Ceremony
You are welcome to rest for as long as you like after the ceremony. Taking time to yourself to meditate, journal and connect with nature in the days after your ceremony will help you to integrate the experience and see lasting effects. Integration support via WhatsApp is included.

The most effective Kambo treatment consist of 3 ceremonies within a lunar cycle (28 days). This is called an "Inoculation" and helps you receive maximum immune system benefits. People healing chronic health conditions or complex trauma may sit with Kambo weekly for months at a time, or multiple days in a row. Sitting with Kambo 1-2 times a year is common for general maintenance of health & wellbeing.
Immediately after a Kambo ceremony, you may feel like resting or taking a nap. It may take up to 2 days to feel fully recovered and energized after Kambo if you have a higher load of toxins in your system. Since recovery time varies, it's best to avoid any plans or commitments the day of your ceremony and allow yourself space to integrate the experience.
Kambo is generally safe, however it's not for everyone. Kambo contains potent vasodilators and can be dangerous for people with certain health conditions. Contraindications for Kambo include having cardiovascular conditions, high/low blood pressure, history of stroke or seizures, blood clots, active ulcers, gliomas, Addison's disease, schizophrenia or psychosis and being pregnant or breastfeeding. Following the preparation protocol and abstaining from certain drugs & medications before a ceremony is essential for safety.
The superficial burns made from Kambo dots will fade overtime but may be permanent depending on your skin's reaction and the location of the burns. Many people see these marks as a badge of honor and a beautiful reminder of their inner strength and commitment to healing.
No. However, Kambo can induce an altered states of consciousness, similar to deep meditation.
